What to Expect in Whitewater

Gorgeous

Whitewater, named for the white sands of Whitewater Creek, is nestled in the southern Kettle Moraine State Forest. It offers 22 parks and 4 lakes. It is also home to UW-Whitewater - recognized as a Tree Campus by the Arbor Day Foundation. Surrounded by old oaks and hickory, natural prairie, farmlands, and forest, Whitewater is a feast for the nature lover. From biking and hiking to boating and fishing, there’s no shortage of outdoor recreation. See for yourself!
Entertaining

Enjoy an entertaining evening out at 1 of 4 art galleries or our performing arts venue, Young Auditorium. If you want something cozier, visit everyone's favorite small town movie theater, Whitewater Cinemas. Satisfy any craving at the restaurants and eateries of our historic downtown. And when you’re ready for a nightcap, Whitewater offers 3 breweries and 1 winery.
Eventful

Also known as “Second Salem” due to its rich Spiritualism history, Whitewater provides a Spirit Tour every October. Another beloved event includes the 4th of July Festival (the only multi-day festival in the region). Visitors can also check out Whitewater’s Storytelling Festival and the Holiday Parade of Lights. Looking for more intimate events? Pop over to beautiful Cravath Lakefront Park for our Whitewater City Market on Tuesday evenings and our Concerts in the Park series also on Tuesday evenings. Catch a sneak peek of our events!
Cozy

Located about 2hrs from Chicago and an hour from Milwaukee or Madison, visitors will find the drive quite scenic. Lodging options range from rustic camping to cozy bed and breakfasts and hotels. Come for our hidden gem, the Whitewater Flowing Well (aka “the fountain of youth”). Stay because it feels like home away from home.
