Discover Whitewater’s mission is to inspire exploration and connection by promoting the rich natural beauty, vibrant history, and varied arts culture of Whitewater. We aim to foster tourism that supports local businesses, preserves our historic landmarks, and enhances the quality of life for residents and visitors alike.

About

The Whitewater Tourism Council is to be made up of a cross section of business and organizations serving tourists. The Whitewater Tourism Council works closely with Downtown Whitewater Inc., Whitewater Area Chamber of Commerce, Community Development Authority, and City of Whitewater Common Council.

Purpose

The Whitewater Tourism Council is an advisory committee that suggests and promotes new and existing tourism initiatives. The Whitewater Tourism Council will market Whitewater as a tourism destination by communicating the themes of local history, culture, area attractions, and events to targeted market segments outside the Whitewater area.

State Definition of Tourism

 66.0615 (1) (fm) “Tourism promotion and tourism development” means any of the following that are significantly used by transient tourists and reasonably likely to generate paid overnight stays at more than one establishment on which a tax under sub. 1.) Marketing projects, including advertising media buys, creation and distribution of printed or electronic promotional tourist materials, or efforts to recruit conventions, sporting events, or motorcoach groups. 2.) Transient tourist informational services. 3.) Tangible municipal development, including a convention center.
