Nestled in the heart of Southern Wisconsin, Whitewater offers a quaint backdrop for a weekend of exploring the area’s delicious supper clubs. These timeless establishments not only serve up classic supper club fare, but also provide a glimpse into Wisconsin's hospitality and traditions. If you're looking for day trips filled with delights for your tummy, along with fun activities to enjoy along the way, here are a few area supper clubs worth visiting.
First, book a room at any of Whitewater’s hotels, B&Bs, or Airbnbs and make Whitewater your home base.
The Buckhorn Supper Club in Milton, WI
Start your day trip with lunch at Mexican fusion joint, Taco Fresco, and then head to The Book Teller to shop for used books and gorgeous handcrafted items created by local artists. Afterward, take a drive into Whitewater’s countryside to The Fuzzy Pig Antique Mall for an hour or two of perusing everything they have to offer (which is anything under the sun!). Once you’ve completed all that retail therapy and head toward Milton, get some fresh air on the Clover Valley Segment of the Ice Age Trail.

This less than 2mi hike (from point to point) is on easy terrain and follows Spring Brook through wet meadow and hardwoods. Once in Milton, visit the Milton House Museum, the last, certified Underground Railroad Station in Wisconsin that can be toured. Learn about its fascinating history through a guided tour. Before grabbing dinner at The Buckhorn, pop over to the Red Covered Bridge on the Glacial River Trail for a photo opp with your travel buddies. Finally, get your grub on at The Buckhorn Supper Club on beautiful Lake Koshkonong! This dinner promises an evening of mouth watering steaks and cocktails. Prefer seafood? Grab a spot at one of their Lobster Boils!

Edgewater Supper Club in Jefferson, WI
Start your day trip with a hearty breakfast at Jessica’s Family Restaurant, and then head to Stellar Vintage Clothing Store to peruse the racks of wardrobe gems. Afterward, check out the latest art exhibit at Whitewater Arts Alliance’s Cultural Arts Center. Then, head toward Bark River Rd. just outside Fort Atkinson. This scenic road meanders alongside the Rock River overflow.

Stop for a photo opp of these gorgeous wetlands. Once in Jefferson, get your adrenaline rush on with a tandem skydiving experience at the Wisconsin Skydiving Center! *Appointment necessary* After you’ve worked up your appetite, enjoy a farm-to-table dinner at the quaint, historic Edgewater Supper Club overlooking the Rock River. Reservations are recommended and you have to get a classically Wisconsin Old Fashioned.

Start your day trip with lunch at 50s inspired diner, Brain Freeze, and then head downtown to purchase a pair of hiking shoes or boots at Dale’s Bootery since today is all about walking in parks! Can't go wrong with the classic, shoe store treatment! Once your feet are ready, hike a few of the trails at Natureland Park. Start making your way to Beloit through classic Wisconsin countryside and make a pit stop at Carver-Roehl Park (aka Carvers Rock) where you can enjoy the WI Dells-eque rock formations and cliffs along Spring Brook Creek.

As you head toward Beloit, make sure you stop at roadside attraction, Truck-in-a-Tree, for a photo opp! Once in Beloit, step back in time at Beckman Mill Park, featuring a historic grist mill, nature trails, and picnic areas perfect for a relaxing break from a day of hiking around. Finally, hit up The Butterfly Club where you can enjoy traditional supper club fare in a retro establishment. We hear the lamb chops with mint jelly sauce hit the spot.
